Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our team at a prominent residential facility in the adult community services sector. As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in coordinating the management of the ward in the absence of another Registered Nurse. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the delivery of high standards of care, personalised to meet the individual needs of our service users in a compassionate and dignified manner. Upholding service user safety and adhering to established policies and procedures are paramount in this role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the management of the home as delegated by the Operations and Home Manager.
  • Evaluate and implement care plans in consultation with professional colleagues.
  • Provide and maintain a nurturing and safe environment for residents, aligned with the philosophy of the Home.
  • Assist in the induction training of new staff members and provide ongoing support and guidance as needed.

Clinical:

  • Collaborate with the professional team to assess and evaluate care for residents.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary team members within established guidelines.
  • Promote and implement evidence-based best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records related to resident care and medication administration.
  • Encourage a stimulating environment for residents, including personalising living spaces.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of nursing care plans.
  • Safeguard the health and well-being of residents, staff, and visitors by adhering to health, safety, and fire procedures.
  • Respect confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
  • Respond to emergencies independently and appropriately.
  • Follow proper moving and handling techniques and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.

Administration:

  • Lead by example and maintain high professional standards.
  • Supervise and monitor the performance of care staff, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Attend meetings with care staff and escalate incidents or complaints to the Operations and Home Manager.

Key Criteria:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse.
  • All nurses are required to maintain effective registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and adhere to revalidation requirements.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to work confidently and calmly, seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Proficient in English language, both verbal and written.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations calmly.
  • Leadership skills to assist in the development of junior staff.
  • Empathetic and caring nature.
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational abilities.
  • Understanding and application of evidence-based care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to self and professional development.
  • Flexibility in approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with older adults.
