Description:

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Hospice Therapy team, providing exceptional physiotherapy services to Hospice Inpatient, Day Services, and Community patients. You will independently manage a diverse patient caseload with specialised palliative care requirements, demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning and communication skills.

The Hospice Directorate encompasses various services including the Hospice Inpatient Unit, Clinical Day Services, Community Clinical Nurse Specialist Team, Hospice at Home Service, and more, all working towards comprehensive patient care.

Situated in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, just minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has been rated the top facility nationwide for care in the latest Bupa survey. Moreover, all proceeds support our onsite Hospice. 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BSc hons) or diploma in relevant specialty
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for physiotherapy
  • Evidence of postgraduate professional development
  • Membership in relevant specialist interest groups
  • Additional specialist knowledge acquired through relevant postgraduate physiotherapy training
  • Experience across various inpatient and rehab specialties such as oncology, respiratory, etc.
  • Demonstrated clinical reasoning in managing complex patients independently
  • Specialised assessment and treatment skills for patients with complex conditions

Responsibilities:

  • Flexibly manage time and prioritise tasks across the Hospice Inpatient Unit, Day Services, and Community settings
  • Independently manage a complex patient caseload, conducting comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and interventions
  • Customise therapy interventions to be patient-centered, involving patients' significant others throughout the process
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate therapy interventions, adjusting as necessary to meet patients' evolving needs and goals
  • Possess excellent communication skills, adapting style as needed to effectively convey sensitive information with empathy
  • Understand the challenges of working with patients with deteriorating conditions
  • Advise on and implement therapeutic interventions aimed at optimising symptom self-management
