Sanctuary Health has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Band 8b Lead Nurse to fill a full-time role within an Adults and Children's Safeguarding Team based in Sheffield. The ideal candidates will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The salary for this permanent Lead Nurse job is £53,168 - £62,001 per annum.

The post holder will:

  • Work with the Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse to take the strategic lead for safeguarding adults and children and young people ensuring that the legislative requirements and the requirements of the Sheffield Safeguarding Adults and Children's Boards are fulfilled. This includes ensuring that structures, systems, policies and processes are in place so that safeguarding activity is effectively coordinated across the Trust.
  • Provide line management to the Safeguarding Team and Transition team including the RN for Children and Young People.
  • Develop and support the implementation and evaluation of new roles and new ways of working to ensure sustainable service delivery.
  • Provide strong leadership, effective management and expert professional advice and guidance to staff in all matters relating to safeguarding and to ensure the development of a confident and competent workforce that is able to recognise and respond appropriately to any safeguarding concern.

Main Duties:

  • To lead and develop the safeguarding provision within the Trust to comply with current legislation, national and local Policy and guidance.
  • To provide leadership and line management to the STHFT Safeguarding Team.
  • To function as a member of the central nursing senior nurse team, deputising as required for the Deputy Chief Nurse within sphere of responsibility.
  • On behalf of the Chief Nurse, represent the trust at local and national events relevant to the scope of the role.
  • To represent the Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse internally and externally when required with a level of delegated autonomy to make decisions where appropriate.
  • Participate in the Trusts out of hours arrangements as Duty Matron, maintaining clinical skills and knowledge in order to provide expert/senior advice to staff on all aspects of patient care and operational site management issues.

Requirements of the Lead Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent within Nursing
  • NMC registration and a valid live pin
  • Must have recent UK Nursing experience
  • Extensive post registration experience at a senior level
  • Experience of working with adults and children at risk and their families within the safeguarding framework
  • Post graduate Safeguarding Leadership/Management Training
