The salary for this permanent Registered General Nurse job is £52,932 - £69,605 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of specialized care programs for patients/clients with complex needs.
  • Use information and data from various sources to identify patient/client problems and guide decision-making.
  • Promote service user involvement in care planning, delivery, and evaluation, ensuring respect for their wishes, beliefs, and dignity.
  • Implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing interventions to meet patient needs.
  • Support the lead nurse, microbiologist, and director of public health in providing reactive and proactive infection prevention and control services.
  • Collaborate with the lead infection prevention and control nurse to plan, implement, and evaluate strategies for improving population health.
  • Advise on infection prevention and control in new builds and ward/department planning.
  • Prescribe medication according to infection prevention and control patient group directives.
  • Identify, investigate, and monitor infections and hazardous practices, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in identifying, investigating, and controlling outbreaks and incidents in acute hospital and community settings.
  • Ensure staff uphold professional standards within their scope of responsibility.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in specialist care.
  • Use specialist knowledge to help colleagues develop their competence in infection prevention.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, guidance, and procedures for infection prevention and control.
  • Disseminate and coordinate policies and guidelines throughout the healthcare system.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategies, guidelines, policies, clinical audits, and quality assurance activities.

Requirements of the Registered General Nurse:

  • Qualified Registered Nurse
  • Teaching or mentoring certifications
  • Diploma in a relevant field
  • Exhibits specialist knowledge supported by continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Participates in protocol development and auditing
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
