The salary for this permanent Senior Staff Nurse job is £48,986.64 - £55,293.84 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the NMC Code guidelines and apply them consistently to foster trust and credibility among patients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Stay abreast of developments within the professional discipline, maintaining awareness of advancements in clinical and nursing practices, and sharing clinical knowledge and experience.
  • Contribute to crafting a care philosophy that promotes the creation of a therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio showcasing ongoing acquisition of skills, knowledge, attitudes, and achievements.
  • Enhance nursing practice by acquiring skills in reading, interpreting, and evaluating research to support evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to setting and maintaining standards within the clinical area, participating in clinical audits, and acting as a role model for nursing care delivery.
  • Proficiently perform investigations and treatments in accordance with defined standards while ensuring effective infection prevention measures and challenging poor practices.
  • Provide consistently high-quality advice to patients, carers, and colleagues, incorporating health promotion themes into nursing practice.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of all individuals under care and comply with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and produce high-quality patient information.
  • Collaborate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team, building networks and developing team-building skills.
  • Understand and promote team goals, provide effective supervision to junior staff, and actively seek opportunities for professional development.
  • Assist junior staff in identifying and achieving learning objectives through teaching and learning principles.
  • Make a significant contribution to the overall physical environment and contribute to the development of the Risk Management Plan for the area.
  • Contribute to the ongoing audit of infection control within the clinical area. Please note that this list is not exhaustive but indicative of the range and type of duties.

Requirements of the Senior Staff Nurse:

  • Registered Nurse at 1st Level with active NMC Registration.
  • Possession of, or commitment to obtaining, SACT qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in general nursing.
  • Thorough familiarity with the NMC Code (2015).
  • Proficient understanding of Oncological/Haematological conditions and their treatment.
  • In-depth knowledge of cancer treatment protocols.
  • Comprehensive understanding of potential side effects of SACT and their effective management.
