Job Purpose:
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you'll play a pivotal role in providing high-quality care to children and young people (0-17) with various healthcare needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll ensure a responsive and flexible service that strives for excellence, while actively engaging with patients and their families to uphold their voices and preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with advancements in paediatric nursing practice, engaging in continuous professional development.
- Perform clinical assessments and risk evaluations, accurately recording findings and escalating concerns as necessary.
- Act as an advocate for patients and families, providing information and directing them to support services.
- Safeguard the welfare of all patients, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in line with regulatory standards.
- Proactively manage risks and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care outcomes.
- Effectively communicate complex information to patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medication safety principles and engage in discussions regarding medications with relevant stakeholders.
- Uphold professional standards and act as a positive role model.
- Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Participate in quality auditing processes and contribute to service development.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- NMC Registered Paediatric Nurse with a Paediatric/Children’s Nursing Degree or equivalent experience.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Safeguarding Level 3 Qualification.
Desirable:
- Clinical Skills qualifications such as BFI, cannulation & venepuncture.
- Experience as a student supervisor and assessor.
- APLS certification.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and support others.
- Effective decision-making and initiative-taking skills.
- Familiarity with hospital environments and electronic patient record systems.
