Job Overview

Our Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a 25-bedded facility that operates closely with the Emergency Department, delivering rapid care to a diverse range of patients with medical conditions in a fast-paced setting.

Currently maintaining a patient to nurse ratio of 1:7, AAU features a 5-bedded Enhanced Care Unit dedicated to managing Level 2 patients requiring NIV and cardiac monitoring.

We are seeking a motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to bolster our team, someone who is prepared to take on challenges and contribute positively to our mission.

In this role, you will assist with daily clinical tasks on AAU, including observations, venepuncture, and cannulation. We are committed to providing superior patient care and seek individuals with outstanding clinical and communication skills.

Successful candidates will serve as role models, offering support to nurses and junior healthcare assistants while fostering a culture of learning and development.

Flexibility is essential as you will be expected to work various shifts to cover our 24/7 service.

Job Purpose

Your role is to promote the well-being, health, and independence of patients/clients by aiding them with activities of daily living, ensuring planned care goals are met.

Operating under the guidance of trained staff, you will have immediate access to advice and support.

  • Demonstrate basic keyboard skills and execute designated administrative tasks efficiently.
