About Us:

The Secure Training Centre serves as an 80-bedded secure establishment catering to individuals aged 12-17.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Learning Disability Nurse, Children’s Nurse, or Mental Health Nurse to complement our secure healthcare team. As a pivotal member of our multidisciplinary team, you will undertake assessments and manage a caseload of patients within a secure environment. Your role will encompass providing holistic care, considering the multifaceted needs of our service users.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a caseload of patients diagnosed with Learning Disabilities or ASD.
  • Conducting initial assessments, devising care plans, and implementing follow-up procedures.
  • Participation in establishment policy-driven processes to support patients at risk of self-harm/suicide, in adherence to NICE Guidance.
  • Regular attendance at supervision sessions and completion of yearly EDR to evaluate targets, progression, and learning objectives.
  • Offering support to patients through effective communication, interpersonal skills, patience, and resilience.
  • Providing staff with training and guidance on the care of patients with Learning Disabilities.
  • Contributing to awareness days and workshops facilitated by the PCMHT, and collaborating with the team to enhance these initiatives.
  • Active involvement in weekly Integrated Mental Health Team Referrals meetings to ensure a cohesive approach to addressing at-risk patients.

Essential Skills:

  • Part 1 NMC registration.
  • 5-year UK residency history.

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrable commitment to enhancing own clinical practice.
  • Previous experience in a secure environment.
  • Degree-level qualification or higher.
  • Experience in driving innovation or change.
  • Nurse Prescriber qualification.
  • Track record of working in a 'value for money' service.
  • Possession of a valid driving licence.
