Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated School Nurse for a full-time position based in a Secure Training Centre in Milton Keynes.

About Us:

We provide comprehensive healthcare services within justice health environments. We are committed to delivering top-notch primary care and forensic healthcare across various settings, including Secure, Custody, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) throughout the UK. Our Secure Training Centre caters to young individuals aged 12-17, offering a secure environment with an 80-bed capacity.

Our healthcare services encompass a wide range of provisions, including GP, Dentist, Optician, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Immunisations, Sexual health clinics, and Young Fatherhood programs. Assessments are conducted using the Comprehensive assessment tool (CHATS), which is standardised across the youth secure estate. Our dedicated team consists of RNLDs, RMNs, RGNs, and RCNs.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Learning Disability Nurse, Children’s Nurse, or Mental Health Nurse to join our secure healthcare team. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for conducting assessments and managing a caseload of patients within a secure setting. The role demands a holistic approach to service users, considering their complex needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of patients with diagnosed Learning Disability or ASD.
  • Conduct initial assessments, develop appropriate care plans, and follow up procedures.
  • Participate in processes designed to assist patients at risk of self-harm/suicide, following NICE Guidance.
  • Attend monthly supervision sessions and complete yearly EDR assessments.
  • Provide support to patients using excellent communication, interpersonal skills, patience, and resilience.
  • Deliver awareness training and advice for staff on the care of patients with a Learning Disability.
  • Assist in organising awareness days and workshops.
  • Participate in weekly Integrated Mental Health Team Referrals meetings.

Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

  • Part 1 NMC registration
  • 5-year UK residence history

Desirable Skills:

  • Evidence of further development of own clinical practice
  • Experience working in a secure environment
  • Degree level qualification or above
  • Experience in innovation or change management
  • Nurse Prescriber qualification
  • Experience in a 'value for money' service
  • Valid driving licence
