Duties:

As the Apheresis/Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development of the Apheresis Unit. Collaborating with the Apheresis Clinical Lead and the Project and Quality Manager, your key responsibilities will encompass governance and operational management of the Apheresis service. It will be crucial to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, facilitating the prompt commencement of the service. After the establishment of the Apheresis unit, you will serve as a knowledge source and actively participate in training haematology clinical nurse specialists in apheresis procedures to enhance the team's capabilities.

With a focus on patient-centered care, you will have primary responsibility for providing specialised nursing care to individuals undergoing apheresis procedures. This role involves practicing autonomously as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team. As the Apheresis/Haematology CNS, you will collaborate closely with other haematology clinical nurse specialists to coordinate stem cell transplants and patient reviews. The initial frequency of apheresis procedures is expected to be once a week.

Your role will extend to developing your skills and knowledge in apheresis, undertaking nurse-led activities with appropriate training. Additionally, you are expected to contribute to the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of excellent, compassionate care. Continuous professional development and staying abreast of developments in Haemato-Oncology, Apheresis, and Stem Cell Transplantation are integral aspects of this role.
