Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist
Location: Wallingford
Type: Permanent
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £40,456 - £54,027 per annum pro rata, depending on experience & non-medical prescribing qualification

Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide direct assessment, support, and advocacy to service users and carers managing complex, distressing, and life-limiting illnesses. As a key member of our client's team, you will empower and facilitate all professionals to meet the care needs of service users and their carers by contributing to education and promoting the principles and philosophy of care.

Key Relationships:

  • Mentor and supervise junior team members, including pre-registration students.
  • Work in partnership with senior nurses and the management team to share local knowledge and developments.
  • Support volunteers within the team.
  • Foster positive relationships between nursing teams, departments, professionals, and personnel both internally and externally.

Complexity and Accountability:

  • Contribute to the control of costs and expenditures.
  • Work within multi-disciplinary and primary healthcare teams.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of own role within the speciality and across local health networks.
  • Represent the team on specific groups and working parties.
  • Stay politically aware regarding healthcare structures and developments.
  • Adhere to professional codes of conduct and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage own caseload, providing expert holistic specialist care.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and develop clinical guidelines and standards.
  • Collect, evaluate, and report information, maintaining accurate records.
  • Promote choice in clinical practice and enable concerns and complaints to be raised freely.
  • Contribute to research, clinical audit, and benchmarking to monitor and improve service user safety and experience.
  • Contribute to quality improvement policies and plans.
  • Promote an organisational culture that encourages staff to challenge inappropriate behavior and unsafe practice.
  • Maintain own professional development.
  • Facilitate the safe and smooth running of the service, ensuring a safe working environment and maintaining service user confidentiality.

Qualifications Required:

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Evidence of continued professional development within a specialism.
  • Must hold a Full UK driving licence

Experience, Skills, and Ability:

  • Demonstrable experience in neurological or palliative care.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively.
  • Up-to-date clinical practice.
  • Ability to challenge traditional boundaries using evidence-based approaches.
  • Effective communication skills in various settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
