Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Staff Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team, serving within various departments of a hospital facility. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary expertise to supervise and contribute to the professional development of registered and unregistered nursing staff. Acting as a role model, you will demonstrate proficiency in established procedures and policies while assisting newly appointed staff during their preceptorship period.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Practice and Philosophy of Nursing:
- Uphold the principles outlined in the ward philosophy and actively work towards achieving its aims and objectives.
- Apply nursing models and healthcare documentation principles in daily practice.
- Manage care planning and provision for patients requiring healthcare services.
- Ensure effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
- Implement structures and processes to maintain high standards of nursing care and achieve positive outcomes.
- Participate in the Revalidation process as per NMC guidelines.
- Adhere to the locally agreed framework for scope of professional practice.
- Perform nursing procedures in alignment with the Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mentor junior nurses and learners as a named mentor, guiding them through approved competency programs.
- Facilitate learning contracts for qualified and unregistered nursing staff to attain specific competences.
- Coordinate clinical areas within the hospital under the guidance of senior staff.
- Continuously develop personal skills to support evidence-based practice.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to patients and colleagues.
- Recognise personal limitations and refer to experienced nurses when necessary.
- Participate in clinical supervision sessions.
Role Development:
- Agree on development targets through formal appraisal and performance interviews to meet personal and organisational objectives.
- Pursue additional training and development opportunities as advised by the management team.
- Support the role of the ward manager and provide professional assistance to the senior team.
- Provide professional support to key members of the multidisciplinary team.
Health and Safety:
- Report accidents and incidents promptly and complete relevant documentation.
- Adhere to safe moving and handling policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Do Not Resuscitate Policies.
- Follow fire safety regulations and infection control procedures.
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of ward equipment.
- Attend mandatory training sessions for Fire Safety, Basic Life Support, and Safe Moving and Handling.

Minimum Criteria:
- Current Registration with NMC.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Practice Assessor/Supervisors course.
- Portfolio evidence meeting agreed competence criteria level.
- Completion of 'A' unit or D32/D33 Assessors course.
