Duties of the Mental Health Nurse:
- Work as an autonomous Perinatal Community Nurse with a defined caseload
- Ensuring the on-going assessment of adults within the service and providing a range of needs-led interventions and care
- Work in consultation with other professionals making known concerns regarding safeguarding children and safeguarding adults to the appropriate and responsible services
- Provide written information for all perinatal referrals received into the team to the referrers
- Aid the identification and treatment for the mental health needs of pregnant women and those with infants up to one year old
Requirements of the Mental Health Nurse:
- Degree or equivalent in Mental Health Nursing
- Experience working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse
- NMC Registration
- Experience working in an NHS setting
- Experience of general adult inpatient, Mother and Baby inpatient unit, community mental health services or CAMHS
- Prior experience of working with women who suffer from moderate to severe mental illness in the perinatal period is essential
