Sanctuary Health has a permanent job vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Clinical Lead (RMN/RNLD) to work with with within a Residential Service based in Lincoln. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of mental health nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The salary for this permanent Clinical Lead role is £38,000 per annum.

Role purpose:

  • To be responsible for the development and maintenance of clinical governance within the Care Home. The Clinical Leader will support with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for residents and support the Registered Manager & management team in the management and development of the Registered Care Home (Nursing). To lead the shift and ensure the promotion of a person centred service and to deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • To deliver a quality service that meets the Statement of Purpose, complies with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), The Care Act 2014 and associated standards and legislation such as Valuing People 2001 and Valuing People Now 2009.

Main Duties:

  • To lead, manage, mentor and coach a team of employees and volunteers ensuring that the Company's people management policies, procedures and processes are implemented and provide a professional, efficient and effective handover to all team members. To include regular supervision, performance management and appraisal.
  • To act as a named nurse to residents, ensuring the philosophy of personalisation and coproduction is central to the process in order to ensure social inclusion and people reaching and maintaining their full potential. To support the development of empathic and compassionate relationships with residents and carers and to implement a multi-agency approach ensuring that resident's lead their own person centred review at least every 6 months.
  • To lead on the setting, monitoring and evaluation of standards of care and clinical audit and contribute to the clinical governance processes in line with company policies and procedures.
  • To adhere to current statutory responsibilities including the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Professional Code of Conduct, Medication Act (1968); National Service Frameworks, The Care Act, 2014 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010, and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2014., good practice guidance (e.g. Nice clinical guidance), and clinical governance arrangements, in order to ensure an environment in which clinical practice flourishes. To keep updated with the above and all relevant legislation and Making Space policies and procedures. To adhere to the statutory responsibilities placed upon the organisation, for example Health and Safety at Work act 1974, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS.
  • To ensure that each resident has an individualised, person centred support plan/risk management plan/health action plan prepared under the direction of the multi-disciplinary team and/or care co-ordinator, which provides for both the long-term and immediate needs of the resident, and which includes a specific programme of therapeutic activities, within the clinical area and encompasses the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual programmes of care. To ensure that Positive behaviour support plans are implemented and where necessary make arrangements for more specialist support.

Requirements of the Clinical Lead:

  • You will be a registered mental health or learning disability nurse and will have a valid NMC pin
  • A genuine commitment to adhering to the NMC Codes of Conduct and expanding your professional development
  • Experience of supervising staff, including providing Clinical Supervision
  • Experience of working within the field of learning disability and mental health
  • Experience of dealing with behaviours that challenge the service and positive programme approach to aid facilitation of a therapeutic environment
  • Experience of planning, monitoring, auditing and evaluating work to meet objectives
  • Experience of developing socially inclusive care plans to promote independence
  • Experience of using information technology for a range of different purposes
