In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering top-notch ultrasound services independently, aiding in patient care and diagnosis across various clinics in Nottinghamshire and/or Lincolnshire. Whether it's Gynaecological or Musculoskeletal (desirable), your proficiency will be invaluable in producing insightful diagnostic reports for referring clinicians.

As this position involves mobility across multiple sites in the East Midlands, the ideal candidate should possess a valid UK Driver's Licence and be eligible for a Company Car Allowance or mileage reimbursement.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations in accordance with established guidelines, demonstrating proficiency during unsupervised scanning sessions.
  • Deliver comprehensive ultrasound scanning and reporting services within your designated scope of practice, using analytical skills to interpret ultrasound images accurately and generate examination reports.
  • Adhere to protocols and policies when operating on site, ensuring compliance and upholding high standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with referring clinicians and, when necessary, request Radiologist review of reports, showcasing a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain exceptional patient care in a safe and hygienic environment, aligned with policies.
  • Effectively manage clinic sessions, working alongside Diagnostic Imaging Assistants to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Participate in the training of other medical staff, including radiographers and medical professionals, as directed by the Clinical Regional Lead Sonographer.
  • Engage in audit and clinical governance activities under the guidance of the Clinical Regional Lead Sonographer.
  • Pursue lifelong learning, actively participating in continuous professional development to stay abreast of advancements in medical ultrasound.
  • Uphold personal and professional standards of excellence in ultrasound practice and patient care.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Relevant professional qualification (DMU, PgD or MSc in Medical Ultrasound) and professional registration (e.g., HCPC).
  • Possession of a valid driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable).
  • Comprehensive clinical knowledge and expertise in medical ultrasound acquired through post-graduate qualifications and practical experience.
  • Sound clinical judgment and the ability to make critical decisions based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Proficiency in utilising patient management databases and PACS systems.
