Our client is currently seeking a Superintendent Radiographer to lead an esteemed Satellite Sites team in Tower Hamlets. You will undertake a major role within the management of departmental staff, and when necessary, you will directly line manage the Radiology service. Therefore, exceptional leadership skills and experience are vital for this position. This position requires the oversight of procedures such as: MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound & X-Ray.

The salary for this role is between £54,000 and £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Superintendent Radiographer:

  • Ensure the provision of consistently high-quality care and maintain operational efficiency within the Imaging department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Perform a comprehensive range of scans and x-rays to exacting standards, prioritizing superior imaging outcomes for our consultants, and collaborating closely with relevant radiologists to achieve optimal results.
  • Exercise comprehensive oversight of safety protocols for both patients and staff, meticulously completing and reviewing risk assessments and local MRI regulations. Spearhead the implementation and adherence to safety checks, protocols, and policies to foster a secure imaging environment, while also contributing to incident reporting and investigations.
  • Undertake line management responsibilities for radiographers.
  • Offer empathetic and professional support to staff members.
  • Actively engage as a key member of the Senior Management Team for Imaging, participating in SMT meetings and assuming a leadership role to foster departmental growth. Foster robust collaborative relationships with fellow superintendents to bolster the overall efficacy of the Imaging service.
  • Coordinate scanner bookings and schedules to ensure optimal capacity utilization and accurate scheduling, aligning scanner operating times with service demands in coordination with imaging management.
  • Manage radiographer training in the operation of imaging equipment, ensuring adherence to current competency frameworks.
  • Participate in the MRI Non-Ionising Radiation User Group and report to the Local Radiation Protection Committee to uphold departmental compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with service engineers and the bookings team to address equipment faults promptly and coordinate contingency arrangements as necessary for seamless business continuity.
  • Assume responsibility for the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the radiology department, ensuring adherence among all staff members.

Relevant Qualifications and Experience of the Superintendent Radiographer:

  • Possession of a Degree in Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent qualification).
  • Registration with the HCPC.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in MRI within the UK context.
  • Proficiency in radiography processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience in MRI operations in a Superintendent/Lead Radiographer capacity within the UK.
  • Advanced comprehension of clinical governance principles and protocols pertinent to Imaging departments.
