Key Accountabilities
Clinical:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team, supporting a caseload of patients alongside allocated key nurses, co-worker HCAs, and MDT representatives.
- Manage an assigned lead area for the service, such as self-harm management and clinic room upkeep, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients and families, acting as a patient advocate and ensuring privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Promptly report any identified issues raised by patients or relatives.
- Maintain rigorous infection control measures and administer medications following local policies.
- Report significant nursing issues to the Clinical Manager and ensure adherence to clinical practice guidelines.
- Foster effective communication and relationships with hospital colleagues and consultants while upholding confidentiality standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Children Act.
Support:
- Supervise and manage nurses and HCAs, providing guidance and support.
- Engage in monthly clinical supervision and conduct supervision sessions for the nursing team.
- Participate in organisational meetings and functions as required.
- Uphold health and safety standards, ensuring the safety of colleagues, visitors, and patients.
- Report and address near-misses or non-compliances promptly.
Administrative:
- Document all nursing care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in Health & Safety audits as necessary.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse
- Skills and knowledge up to date with current nursing practice
- Ability to plan care
- Ability to manage a personal caseload
- Understanding of on-going professional development requirements
- Good communication skills - Verbal & written
- Understanding of private medicine and the relevant legislative frameworks
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Knowledge of NMC Code of Practice & the role of the CQC
- Minimum of one year’s post registration experience
- Effective interpersonal skills
