Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for a Reporting Sonographer at Band 7 or 8a (salary dependent on skills and experience) to join the Ultrasound team within a Radiology Department located in Guernsey. 

The successful candidate will operate as an independent reporting Sonographer, conducting examinations at an exceptional level of proficiency and producing concise and accurate reports. Additionally, they will be responsible for communicating complex, sensitive, or contentious findings to appropriate clinicians and directly to patients.

Duties:

  • Work as an independent reporting sonographer performing exams to a very high standard, formulating stand-alone, concise and accurate reports
  • Communicating highly complex/sensitive/contentious results to the appropriate clinician(s) and also to patients directly
  • Tailoring the gained scan information to the appropriate level of the recipient in a clear and accurate method often needing a high degree of empathy

  • Independently prioritise clinical workload and organise such from a variety of referral pathways to meet the needs of the service user
  • Follow policies, procedures and protocols relating to and underpinning the ultrasound service in line with guidance from Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers
  • Independently undertake and report all examinations that you are competent in, for example obstetric scanning including first trimester screening, dating scans with Nuchal Translucency accreditation, anomaly and high risk obstetric scans, abdominal, small parts, renal, gynaecological, transvaginal, paediatric, neonatal hips, neonatal heads, DVT’s and preferably also carotid Doppler examination

Requirements:

  • DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Diploma of Medical US or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound at Masters level (120 M level credits)
  • Evidence of post qualification study and career development/managerial experience
  • HPC Registration (if appropriate)
  • SOR Membership
  • Post qualification experience in abdominal, small parts and obstetric ultrasound, paediatric hips and some Vascular Scanning
  • Experience of mentoring and assessing junior staff to M level qualification
  • Demonstrable evidence of continued Audit and CPD
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision

Appointment to this role is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks, including:
