The salary for this permanent Sonographer job is £50,000 - £58,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Perform various ultrasound examinations according to established guidelines, demonstrating proficiency in independent scanning sessions.
  • Provide comprehensive ultrasound scanning and reporting services within your designated scope of practice, utilising analytical and judgmental skills to interpret images accurately and produce detailed examination reports.
  • Adhere to Trust protocols and policies while working on Trust sites, ensuring compliance and upholding high standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with referring clinicians and, when necessary, request Radiologist review of reports, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Ensure exceptional patient care in a safe and hygienic environment, following Diagnostic Healthcare and Trust policies.
  • Manage clinic sessions efficiently, working with Diagnostic Imaging Assistants to ensure smooth patient experiences.
  • Contribute to the training of medical staff, including radiographers and other professionals, as directed by the Clinical Regional Lead Sonographer.
  • Actively engage in audit and clinical governance activities under the guidance of the Clinical Regional Lead Sonographer.
  • Pursue lifelong learning, participating in continuing professional development and staying updated on advancements in medical ultrasound.
  • Uphold personal and professional standards of excellence in ultrasound practice and patient care.

Requirements of the Sonographer:

  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification (DMU, PgD, or MSc in Medical Ultrasound) and professional registration (e.g., HCPC).
  • Possession of a valid driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable).
  • Demonstrated in-depth clinical knowledge and expertise in medical ultrasound acquired through post-graduate qualifications and practical experience.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the capability to make critical decisions based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Proficiency in utilising patient management databases and PACS systems.
