Pay Rate: £21.58 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum, 6-Months

Hours: Ful-time, Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm

Main Duties:

  • Design and implement a variety of educational and developmental activities for children aged 0 to 5 years, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Collaborate with the nursery’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator to fully integrate children with special educational needs into all nursery activities.
  • Assume Key-Worker responsibilities for a designated group of children, including planning, assessment, and record keeping. Prepare and complete children's reviews within required timelines.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring that planning for their children is done in partnership with them.
  • Promote and sustain a culturally sensitive environment, ensuring that educational and developmental opportunities reflect the children’s racial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of a structured program of activities in compliance with current legislation, including the DFES Foundation Stage for Learning and Birth to Three Framework.
  • Foster an understanding of the nursery's aims among children, their families, and the wider community, supporting the development of the nursery as a community resource.
  • Assist in the implementation of Early Years Child Protection Procedures, including the identification and monitoring of children in need of protection, and prepare observational reports for case conferences.
  • Maintain high professional standards of hygiene and adhere to health and safety requirements as outlined in the Full Day Care, Guidance to the National Standards.
  • Attend staff meetings, participate in personal and group supervision, and engage in staff training and development opportunities as appropriate.

Requirements of the Nursery Education Officer

  • NNEB, BTEC Childcare and Education, NVQ Level III in Childcare and Education, DPQS, ADCE, or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  • Valid proof of eligibility to work and reside in the UK. Current DBS check and references from the past 5 years.
  • Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute independently to and from work.
