Pay Rate: £280 per hour (assignment class)

Contract Length: Initial contract is 3 months

Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week (in theoffice 3 days per week)

Main Duties of the  SEN Casework Officer:

  • Supervise and manage the daily tasks related to a large pupil caseload, consulting with SEN Officers and Administration Officers as needed, and ensuring all processes are completed within statutory deadlines.
  • Make initial decisions regarding the initiation of statutory assessments and the amendment of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) following annual reviews, seeking guidance from SEN Officers when necessary.
  • Develop Education, Health, and Care Plans, determining needs and provisions based on advice from medical and educational professionals and other agencies.
  • Address parental concerns and representations related to statutory processes, consulting with SEN Officers as needed.
  • Oversee and direct the work of Administration and Clerical Officers concerning statutory processes, ensuring appropriate arrangements for individual children.
  • Ensure that schools and other providers listed in a child’s EHCP comply with the specified expectations and obligations, taking necessary action when required.
  • Evaluate the provisions in the EHCP and determine if the child is making progress as expected, advising others accordingly.
  • Arrange placements for children following initial assessments or annual reviews, coordinating with other Local Authority teams (e.g., Admissions and Transport) and consulting with schools as required by statutory regulations.

 Requirements of the SEN Casework Officer:

  • BTEC Level 3 Award in SEN Casework or demonstrated experience in a similar field.
  • Extensive experience working in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or significant experience in a related area.
  • Valid proof of eligibility to work and reside in the UK, current DBS check, and two references.
  • Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute independently to and from work.
