Main Duties:

  • Evaluate LA School Provision Quality and Impact: Assess the effectiveness of the Local Authority’s responsibilities in LA-maintained schools by scrutinizing school improvement strategies, improvement plans, progress and outcomes data, and curriculum delivery for children and young people.
  • Collaborate on Early Years Education: Work closely with the LA Early Years Improvement Officer, Early Years Teaching School, and lead teachers to support schools and educational settings, with a particular focus on transitioning into primary education.
  • Promote and Accelerate Good Practices: Identify and advocate for effective practices and provisions, ensuring improvements are accelerated and secured across both primary and secondary school sectors.
  • Contribute to Strategic Development: Participate in the development, planning, and evaluation of LA strategies aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Support School Partnerships Lead: Assist the Lead for School Partnerships in securing, coordinating, and monitoring high-quality LA and school-to-school support. This includes overseeing the progress review cycle for schools building capacity, those causing concern, or those under Ofsted review.
  • Monitor School Performance: Maintain a comprehensive overview of school performance through various data sources, including school self-evaluations and pupil performance data, and provide relevant information and intelligence on areas of the LA’s statutory responsibilities.
  • Report to Senior Officers: Provide reports to senior officers on the impact of commissioned school improvement strategies and sector-led, school-to-school support strategies as required.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven senior leadership experience in the primary education sector (e.g., Headteacher, Deputy Head, Assistant Head) or at the school improvement level within a Local Authority (e.g., advisor/consultant).
  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in the UK.
  • Current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
  • Two professional references.
  • Valid UK driving license with the capability to commute independently.
