Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Pharmacy Services: Provide specialised clinical pharmacy services to various specialities, rotating every 6 to 12 months. Work in alignment with objectives, statutory requirements, and professional codes of ethics.
  • Dispensing Activities Supervision: Oversee dispensing activities for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring compliance with medication policies and regulations. Conduct clinical checks, handle prescriptions, and address medicines-related queries.
  • Specialist Training Programme: Participate in a structured rotational specialist training programme, focusing on clinical and managerial duties. Pursue postgraduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy as appropriate.
  • Out-of-Hours Coverage: Provide out-of-hours, weekend, and bank holiday pharmacist cover as per the designated rota.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, with GPhC registration. Completion of pre-registration training and membership with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience in clinical pharmacy services within a hospital setting. Familiarity with medicines management standards and policies. Medicines information experience is advantageous.
  • Skills and Aptitudes: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and software. Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and provide accurate advice. Dispensing and checking skills are essential.
  • Specific Requirements: Willingness to travel between hospital sites and participate in on-call duties. Adaptability to changing circumstances and situations.
