Job Title: Band 6 Rotational Clinical Pharmacist
Location: Louth

Salary: £35,392 - £42,618 per annum

Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to provide exceptional clinical pharmacy services to our client's various wards and departments. You will work closely with our team of Chief Pharmacists, Principal Pharmacists, and Lead Pharmacists to ensure alignment with Objectives and the NHS Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide high-quality patient-focused care in line with Clinical Governance principles.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicines Management and Controls Assurance Policies.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into patients' drug histories as necessary.
  • Review prescriptions for legality, ambiguity, and clinical accuracy.
  • Monitor drug usage in patients, reporting near misses and risk management issues.
  • Foster positive relationships with service users and provide medicines information to various stakeholders.
  • Prioritise workload to meet patient and service needs.
  • Participate in a rotational training programme to gain diverse clinical pharmacy experience.

Supervision of Dispensing Activities:

  • Supervise dispensing activities, ensuring legality, clinical accuracy, and compliance with policies.
  • Conduct clinical checks of prescriptions in appropriate priority order.
  • Final check dispensed medicines when required.
  • Provide advice to patients and carers on medication regimens.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations governing medication handling.
  • Cover for pharmacists at other sites when necessary.

Supporting Evidence-Based and Cost-Effective Practice:

  • Assist in evaluating new pharmaceutical products for inclusion in the Medicines Formulary.
  • Participate in clinical audit and research initiatives.
  • Conduct drug utilisation reviews.

Risk Management:

  • Participate in risk management audits and report medicines-related incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations governing medication usage and reporting.
  • Contribute to the recall of defective medicines as needed.

Out-of-Hours Service:

  • Participate in the Pharmacist Out-of-Hours service and cover Evening, Weekend, and Bank Holiday rota.
  • Adapt to any new flexible working arrangements.

Staff Development and Performance Review:

  • Undergo annual performance reviews and pursue further training as per personal development plans.
  • Maintain competencies and engage in Continuing Professional Development.

Contribution to Staff Training:

  • Deliver presentations and lectures to other healthcare staff.
  • Assist in the induction of new Pharmacy staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
  • Completed 1-year pre-registration pharmacy training
  • Membership with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Supervisory experience
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification/experience

Previous Experience:

  • Clinical Pharmacy Services
  • Implementation of medicines management standards and policies
  • Clinical pharmacy in a hospital setting
  • Experience in Medicines Information

  • Proficiency in Pharmacy computer systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills for influencing prescribing decisions
  • Effective time management and prioritisation, even under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
