Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse (CPN) to work based in Bristol as a Specialist Recovery Practitioner, within the Assessment and Recovery Mental Health Team.

The pay rate for this locum role is £32.40 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 1-month contract.

Main Duties:

  • Provide appropriate, effective interventions and treatments to people with severe and enduring mental health needs, and their carers (including friends and relatives) and their supporters in the community, enabling and assisting them to meet daily health, social care and wellbeing needs, in line with personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with mainstream services.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to team members.
  • Take a lead role within the team working with individuals, and their families and carers, with co-existing mental health and substance misuse problems (Dual Diagnosis).
  • Work with the senior practitioner and team manager to develop the competencies of other team members, to ensure treatment provision for those with a dual diagnosis is mainstreamed across the whole service.
  • Always under the overarching framework of CPA, be responsible for the on-going assessment, planning delivery and review of activities and interventions against identified health, social care and wellbeing needs, acting as care coordinator for a defined group of service users.
  • Undertake and deliver specific health or social care assessments and interventions, according to care clusters, including identified service users on other caseloads. This maybe either on a one-to-one basis, or as part of a group activity. Some regular out of hours working maybe required.
  • Be responsible for developing delivering and reviewing comprehensive and complex treatment programmes using appropriate frameworks in line with evidence– based practice, including strategies to manage risk for service users with complex needs and carers, bringing in other resources as required.
  • Challenge the stigmatisation of addictive behaviours and actively promote social inclusion.
  • Report and record within agreed timeframes, all activity relating to information reporting and performance requirements.

Requirements of the Community Mental Health Nurse:

  • Valid NMC registration under Mental Health.
  • Demonstrate substantial post-registration experience gained working in a range of front-line adult mental health services, undertaking assessment, and delivering interventions.
  • A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained).
  • Demonstrates substantial experience of, and relevant professional practice qualification in mentoring/assessing students and learners.
  • Demonstrates substantial experience of assessing risk and developing risk management strategies.
  • Demonstrates substantial experience of supervising others, monitoring their performance appraisal and ensuring delivery of activity.
  • Able to articulate a detailed understanding of the relevant legal frameworks/legislation including CPA process, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Safeguarding.
