Who we are:

We have been a leading provider to all justice health environments since 2005. Working across Secure, Custody, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) across the UK, we provide primary care and forensic healthcare to a wide range of patients. We are an 80 bedded secure establishment that holds young people from 12-17 years old.

We provide healthcare services in line with the NHS, including GP, Dentist, Optician, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. We also offer Immunisations, Sexual health clinics, and Young Fatherhood programs. We provide assessments using the Comprehensive assessment tool (CHATS) that are utilised across the youth secure estate. The team is made up of RNLDs, RMNs, and RGNs RCNs.

Job Outline:

To proactively lead and manage a clinical team that provides the highest levels of holistic primary care within a secure environment. Ensuring professional, contractual, and company requirements are delivered consistently at all times.

What’s involved:

  • Deputise for the Head of Healthcare in their absence
  • Play a key role in contributing to organisational and local improvement plans
  • Take a lead on clinical audit activity ensuring the clinical team is compliant with organisational audit requirements
  • Carry out assessments of young people to identify physical and mental health needs and determine appropriate levels of intervention, care, and management in conjunction with the young person to ensure their views and wishes are reflected in individual care plans
  • Ensure all staff understand and operate in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct and Sanctuary Personnel policies and procedures, adhering to legislation and best practice at all times

Essential skills:

  • NMC Registration
  • Experience of leading and working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance activity and quality improvement
  • Evidence of further development of own clinical practice
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of literacy and numeracy
  • Able to provide examples of diversity in practice
  • Able to analyse and interpret management information
  • Manage challenging and complex situations
  • Can demonstrate excellent communication and de-escalation techniques
  • Evidence of the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
  • Experience of staff mentoring and managing clinical supervision

  • Can demonstrate financial awareness
  • Experience of working within a secure environment
