Team/Specialism: Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)

Contract: Locum, 3-Months
Hours: Full-time

Main Duties:
- Carrying out independent age assessments of child’s social and cultural needs
- Arranging medical and psychological assessments and observations
- Ensuring child protection procedures are being adhered to
- Advocating on behalf of the service user
- Assessing young people if they appear in need of care services under section 47 of the care act
- Arranging safe, age appropriate accommodation
- Offering support for refugee families including focus on child welfare
- Addressing child poverty when families are living in poor quality housing and have insufficient means of support
- Carrying out assessments and arranging access to appropriate services for children and young people who have been trafficked
- Organising access to age appropriate training, education and leisure services
- Transitioning young people from Children’s to Adults Services
Requirements of the Social Worker:
- Degree or equivalent in social work
- Current Social Work England registration
- Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
