Team/Specialism:  Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)

Pay Rate: To be confirmed

Contract: Locum, 3-Months

Hours: Full-time

Main Duties:

  • Carrying out independent age assessments of child’s social and cultural needs
  • Arranging medical and psychological assessments and observations
  • Ensuring child protection procedures are being adhered to
  • Advocating on behalf of the service user
  • Assessing young people if they appear in need of care services under section 47 of the care act
  • Arranging safe, age appropriate accommodation
  • Offering support for refugee families including focus on child welfare
  • Addressing child poverty when families are living in poor quality housing and have insufficient means of support
  • Carrying out assessments and arranging access to appropriate services for children and young people who have been trafficked
  • Organising access to age appropriate training, education and leisure services
  • Transitioning young people from Children’s to Adults Services

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
