Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has emerged in Lowdham to become part of our prisons Psychology team as a Senior Forensic Psychologist.

As the Senior Forensic Psychologist, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Psychology to enhance and advocate for psychological services within the Prison. Working alongside the Psychology team and external stakeholders, your role will involve direct line management of a team of Forensic Psychologists and Forensic Psychologists-in-Training. You'll provide support to staff with their caseloads while maintaining direct contact with prisoners exhibiting complex needs, including personality disorders and serious offending histories.

Role Responsibility:

  • Line management of Forensic Psychologists and Forensic Psychologists-in-Training, along with direct prisoner contact.
  • Supporting staff with their caseloads and engaging directly with prisoners with complex needs.
  • Completion of Parole Reports and conducting various assessments including HCR, PCL-R, IPDE, and SARA.
  • Conducting Forensic assessments, formulations, and treatment plans for prisoners.
  • Collaborating with the Psychology and Interventions team, prisoners, and wider prison community in a multidisciplinary manner.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leading, developing, and contributing to new Offending Behaviour Programmes (OBP) while ensuring psychological oversight.
  • Delivering training on managing behaviors, personality disorders, and sharing complex case formulations with relevant teams to aid in prisoner management.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist
  • Experience working in secure settings
  • Knowledge of psychological theory in working with individuals with personality disorders, histories of violence, psychopathic traits, and learning disabilities.
  • Proficiency in administering and interpreting psychological assessments.
  • Track record of achieving Key Performance Targets.
