Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has emerged in Liverpool to join our prisons Psychology team as a Senior Forensic Psychologist. This role offers the chance to lead and contribute to the psychological services within the prison environment, collaborating closely with our dedicated team and external stakeholders.

As the Senior Forensic Psychologist, you will oversee the management of Forensic Psychologists and those in training, while also directly engaging with prisoners who have complex needs, including personality disorders and extensive offending histories. Your expertise will be pivotal in conducting assessments, completing reports, and providing therapeutic interventions, all within a framework of rehabilitation and support.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide guidance to Forensic Psychologists and trainees, maintaining direct contact with prisoners.
  • Support staff with caseloads, focusing on individuals with complex needs.
  • Conduct a variety of assessments including HCR, PCL-R, IPDE, and SARA, and produce Parole Reports.
  • Lead the formulation and implementation of treatment plans for prisoners.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, both internally and externally, to ensure comprehensive support for prisoners.
  • Contribute to the development of new Offending Behavior Programs (OBP) and provide psychological insights as needed.
  • Deliver training sessions on relevant topics to support prisoner management and staff development.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist.
  • Previous experience in secure settings is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of psychological theory relevant to personality disorders, violence histories, psychopathic traits, and learning disabilities.
  • Proficiency in administering and interpreting psychological assessments.
  • Track record of meeting Key Performance Targets.
