Pay Rate: £30 - £38 per hour (assignment rate)

Main Duties:
- As a Staff Nurse you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, undertake reception screening, and offer clinics such as triage, long-term conditions, suturing, wound care, ear irrigation, and sexual health.
- To run health promotion / harm-minimisation clinics in specific disease-related areas.
- To ensure that clinics run smoothly and meet national and local priorities and guidelines.
- Respond to medical emergencies as an emergency responder, co-ordinating care, and providing primary clinical care of a high standard to patients.
- Deliver a high standard of clinical care in the primary care, emergency care, harm minimisation, health promotion and occupational health remits of prison healthcare; within the extent of your role, experience and level of expertise.
- Undertake initial and follow-up individual health assessments at reception and health screening, referring to appropriate guidelines.
- Assist the development of evidence-based nursing procedures / protocols in the prison setting.
- Identify shortfalls in stock levels / failure of equipment and liaise with the senior supervisor on duty to arrange replenishment.
Requirements of the Prison Nurse:
- Must be registered on the NMC and must have a relevant qualification in nursing
- Prison clearance and experience is essential
