The salary for this permanent Pharmacy Technician job is £40,374.57 - £45,456.18 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of Controlled Drug supply, ensuring compliance with Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law. Manage stock levels through strict control and security measures, ordering additional supplies as necessary.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Clozaril scheme, including processing blood results and coordinating with healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure availability of Emergency Drugs by assembling and replenishing resuscitation boxes and maintaining the Emergency Cupboard.
  • Educate and advise patients on the safe and effective use of medicines, maximising treatment benefits.
  • Provide ward stock top-up service to designated areas, maintaining appropriate levels and storage conditions of drug stocks.
  • Participate in rotational stock checks to reconcile department levels with computer data, maintaining accurate records of errors and amendments.
  • Utilise Pharmacy Computer systems to record patient information related to prescription drug supplies and stock movements, ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile products, including cytotoxic injections and infusions, following aseptic techniques to minimize contamination risks.
  • Engage in educational and training programs to stay updated on professional knowledge and acquire new skills. Support the training and development of student technicians and assistants within the department.

Requirements of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • Possess a BTEC/NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences, National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent qualification.
  • Currently registered (or eligible for registration) as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain.
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical technical procedures gained through training.
  • Previous pharmacy experience.
  • Stay updated on national guidelines and legislation pertaining to medicines use and pharmacy practice.
  • Familiarity with clinical governance, medication incidents, and risk management.
  • Practical experience in maintaining records in compliance with confidentiality and data protection protocols.
