Pharmacy Technician Pay Rate: £20 - £25 per hour (assignment rate)

Location: Reading

Contract Type: Locum ongoing contract

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 9am - 17:30pm

Duties of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • Accurately dispense Inpatient and TTO (to take out) prescriptions in a safe and timely manner in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Dispense ward stock and TTO (to take out) controlled drugs, ensuring that prescriptions and orders conform to the Misuse of Drugs Act.
  • Utilise the prescription tracking system with respect to dispensary prescriptions, to ensure accurate reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technicians (ACPT’s) will complete final accuracy checking slots within the dispensary.
  • Assemble emergency drug boxes and recall boxes as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance and top up of the Emergency Drug Cupboard.
  • Share the responsibility for replenishment of stock, good stock control, and stock rotation ensuring that medicines are fit for use before being issued.
  • Take part in expiry date checks of medicines.
  • Assist in the return of medicines issued but not needed.

Requirements of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • GPHC Registration
  • Previous experience within a UK based Pharmacy setting
  • NVQ or equivalent – Pharmacy Technician qualification
  • JAC knowledge
