Duties:

  • Develop the SLT Service provided to patients in the Acute/CCC setting
  • Provide leadership/leadership support to the Acute/CCC SLT team and the Hospital
  • Provide highly specialist Speech & Language Therapy assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Provide highly specialist education, training and advice to patients, carers, SLT colleagues, other health care professionals and voluntary organisations
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure inter-professional patient care for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Be involved in undertaking research and audit in patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence

Requirements of the Critical Care Complex Speech and Language Therapist/SLT:

  • Degree or equivalent within Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration
  • Recent UK/NHS post qualifying experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist
