Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 8 Head of Therapy to work full-time based in Norwood, within the Neuro Team.

The pay rate for this locum Head of Therapy job is £28 - £40 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.

Shift Pattern:

  • 5 days over 7-day period, as agreed with the manager

Duties:

  • Oversee the provision of neuro physiotherapy service to a wide range of patients with neurological conditions
  • Develop the therapy team to ensure multi disciplinary approaches to care are available for identified residents
  • Work with the Director of Care and Registered Manager in identifying clients for and supporting clients through different phases of enablement
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the wider Charity team to promote an enablement culture and approach to care within the British home
  • Help maintain in the home the atmosphere and practice of care based on the ‘Mission’ of TBH deriving from a concern for the individual and mutual respect between residents and staff
  • Assess and treat own caseload of patients as an autonomous and independent practitioner for patients who may have acute, chronic and/or complex presentation, and maintain appropriate treatment plans, records and statistics
  • Be involved in the teaching of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), staff and patient education groups
  • Undertake and present evidence-based findings to evidence the ongoing effects of Therapy input
  • Departmental audit and suggesting practice changes, under the supervision of the Director of Care
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to promote rehabilitation and enablement to all client groups within the home
  • Support and advise about future therapy provision for the home as we look to move to a new purpose-built home
  • Focus the team on optimising action plans for each patients’ functional abilities through appropriate rehabilitation input
  • Ensure the therapists develop good communication pathways with other teams within the home and appropriate outside agencies
  • Ensure that effective induction, supervision and appraisal is conducted with designated group of staff, in conjunction with the Supervision and Appraisal policy and procedure
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process when required
  • Ensure the service is effectively provided in close collaboration with staff and other professionals to meet the needs of the patient
  • Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service
  • Work closely with the Activity Co-ordinator in provision of joint sessions
  • Work closely with the fundraising team in supporting relationships with outside stake holders and promoting therapeutic activities externally
  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management
  • Be responsible for the safe use of equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy duties and report any hazards or defects for repair through the appropriate channels
  • Maintain records in line with the CSP Standards of Physiotherapy practice and British home policies
  • Comply with all statutory requirement and legislation i.e. Health & Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Environmental Health etc
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with your position at the request of the Director of Care or person in charge of the home
  • Involve residents, families, external agencies and colleagues

Requirements of the Head of Therapy:

  • Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered as a Physiotherapist
  • Recent post qualifying experience working as a Physiotherapist
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures
  • Recognise and demonstrate commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge relating to clinical areas
  • Willing to undertake a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check
  • Understand person-centred care and can demonstrate treating people as individuals and respecting choices
  • Understand human rights and Impact on care delivery
  • Being accepting on criticism and focusing on improving
  • Being open to new opportunities for learning and identifying the limits of skill and knowledge
