Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, with 80% dedicated to managerial responsibilities & 20% to clinical duties

Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a Head of Resident Doctors for our client's prestigious location in Central London. This role is tailored for Doctors looking to transition into a managerial role while maintaining a clinical aspect.

Summary:

They believe that clinicians are best positioned to lead healthcare organisations, blending clinical expertise with managerial acumen to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality care. This role caters to SPR doctors or Consultants seeking an alternative career path in people management and service provision.

As a trained doctor, you will oversee the direct line management of Resident Doctors and uphold accountability for the services rendered at the hospital. Collaborating with a team of five other Heads of Resident Doctors across different sites, you will report centrally to their corporate headquarters and liaise with onsite senior management teams.

Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility is to ensure consistent, high-quality care at the hospital, aligning with business needs and Consultant-led private patient activities. Working closely with hospital leadership teams, you will manage Resident Doctors operationally and commercially, overseeing various service provisions including General Surgery, Acute Medicine, and Critical Care.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing direct line management to circa 20-25 Resident Doctors
  • Recruitment of new Resident Doctors and overseeing orientation and supervision programmes
  • Collaborating with HR and Finance departments on contract agreements and budget management
  • Managing rota to ensure responsive staffing levels
  • Leading Quality Improvement Projects and enhancing patient satisfaction opportunities

Personal Specification:

  • MBBS medical qualification with full GMC registration and current UK practice licence
  • Additional post-graduate qualification such as MRCP or MRCS
  • Minimum ST5 training or equivalent
  • Experience in line managing or supervising junior doctors
  • Proficient in people management practices, budget management, and roster management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings
