Working Hours: Full time, Monday - Friday, with 80% managerial responsibilities & 20% clinical duties
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Sanctuary Personnel are currently seeking a Head of Resident Doctors to join our client's team at a hospital in Central London. This role is perfect for Doctors seeking an alternative career pathway with a focus on people management and service delivery.

Summary of Role:

In this role, you will oversee the direct line management of Resident Doctors and ensure the delivery of high-quality care at the hospital. You will collaborate with senior management teams and report centrally to Corporate Head Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Resident Doctor team, ensuring consistent, high-quality care aligned with business needs.

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership teams, Chief Medical Officer, Lead Consultants, and Chief Nursing Officer.

  • Manage operational and commercial aspects of service provisions, including General Surgery, Acute Medicine, and Critical Care.

  • Provide line management to Resident Doctors, managing performance, attendance, training, and wellbeing.

  • Lead recruitment efforts and provide orientation and supervision for new hires.

  • Oversee employment contracts, budgets, roster management, and workforce resourcefulness.

  • Drive excellence through Quality Improvement Projects and initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction.

  • Maintain clinical skills through ad-hoc shifts as a Resident Doctor.

Personal Specification:

  • MBBS medical qualification with GMC registration and UK practice licence.

  • Post-graduate qualifications such as MRCP or MRCS.

  • Minimum ST5 training or equivalent.

  • Experience in line managing or supervising junior doctors.

  • Proficiency in people management practices, budget management, and roster management.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively in multidisciplinary settings.
