Pay Rate: £30 per hour

Hours: Part-time. Monday (3 hours), Tuesday (6 hours) and Wednesday (3 hours). Initial contract is 2 months, however could possibly extend for maternity cover.

Main Duties of the Drama Teacher:

  • Designing and developing lesson plans and curricula aligned with educational standards, objectives, and the needs of students.

  • Teaching drama concepts, techniques, and skills to students through a variety of methods, including lectures, demonstrations, group activities, and performances.

  • Organising and directing school plays, musicals, or other theatrical performances, including casting roles, rehearsals, and staging.

  • Facilitating drama exercises, improvisation activities, and theatrical games to help students develop their creativity, confidence, and performance abilities.

  • Providing constructive feedback and assessment to students on their performances, projects, and progress in mastering drama skills and concepts.

  • Establishing and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment, managing student behaviour, and ensuring safety during drama activities.

  • Collaborating with other teachers, staff members, and external partners, such as theatre professionals or community organizations, to enhance drama programs and opportunities for students.

  • Offering individualised support, guidance, and mentoring to students who may need extra assistance or encouragement in their drama studies.

  • Engaging in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on drama education trends, techniques, and best practices.

  • Engaging with parents, families, and the broader community to promote awareness of and participation in drama education and performances.

Requirements of the Drama Teacher:

  • Qualifications: Hold a relevant qualification in Teaching and Learning.

  • Experience: Demonstrate proficiency in ICT and evidence of strategic use of data. Possess a secure working knowledge of the National Curriculum and its assessment, recording, and reporting requirements.

  • Compliance: Able to provide proof of eligibility to work and reside in the UK. Must undergo an Enhanced DBS/Children's Barred List check, hold a clean UK Driving licence, and possess TRN, QTS, PGCE qualifications.
