The salary for this permanent Deputy Ward Manager job is up to £44,648 per annum, plus enhancements.

Duties:

  • Work with the Ward Manager in the delivery of excellent care and the ongoing development and improvement of the ward
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the ward team possesses the skills, knowledge and motivation to deliver the highest quality of care to service users with complex mental health who require stabilisation in a safe and secure environment
  • Ensure that they and the team uphold MHA and MCA standards and work to uphold NMC's code of practice whilst ensuring all relevant policies are in place, reviewed and updated as and when necessary (e.g. ward guidelines/patient information) in liaison with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure clinical records are well maintained and systems are in place for staff to communicate effectively on clinical issues ensuring awareness of legal implications and ensure all ward management responsibilities are met and all reports are up to date
  • Deputise in the Ward Managers absence

Requirements of the Deputy Ward Manager:

  • A motivated, experienced and skilled RMN, to work as Deputy Ward Manager 
  • Have noticeable leadership skills along with a strong drive to develop other members of the team and themselves
  • An understanding of Safewards will be essential but training can be provided
  • Must be a Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse (RNMH / RNLD)
  • Willing to undertake a DBS check
