Sanctuary Health are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse / Community Psychiatric Nurse to work full-time within a Single Point of Access Service based in Sheffield. The ideal candidates will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Mental Health Nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rates for this locum Registered Mental Health Nurse job is £23-£25 per hour depending on shift (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month contract. Enhancements for any unsocial hours picked up.

Job Purpose:

  • To develop strong links and protocols with other services to ensure smooth and timely transitions for patients moving between services.

  • To include families / carers in decision making and planning.

  • To provide a resource of highly specialised mental health intervention either face to face or via telephone to people presenting in crisis.

  • To work with other disciplines within Sheffield Health and Social Care (SHSC) / stakeholders to ensure service users benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach that best matches clinical need.

  • To work flexibly to develop team working and to ensure consistent standards of service delivery throughout wider services.

  • To actively participate in developing team function through tests of change, measuring outcomes, audit and service evaluation.

  • To work flexibly across 24 hours seven days a week.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To conduct psychosocial mental health and risk assessments in accordance with service policy.

  • To plan and arrange subsequent mental health care.

  • To negotiate clinical input from other services within SHSC to ensure the provision of a clinically appropriate and multi-disciplinary approach.

  • To develop close working links with other mental health teams and agencies to enable swift and appropriate transfer between services.

  • To contribute to the development of time limited individual care plans in consultation with patients, families/carers, community teams, primary care and other appropriate service providers.

  • To provide comprehensive written reports as required.

  • To participate in clinical supervision both on an individual basis and team/peer supervision.

  • Maintain clinical records according to professional and Trust standards.

  • To attend and contribute to clinical meetings within SHSC.

  • To work flexibly and provide cover in the absence of other clinicians within OOH.

  • Ensure efficient recording of activity and outcome data

Requirements of the Registered Mental Health Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)

  • NMC registration and a valid live pin

  • Recent UK Mental Health Nursing experience
