Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to work full-time within an Early Intervention Team based in Sandwell. The ideal candidates will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Mental Health Nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rate for this Community Psychiatric Nurse role is £24.61 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Job Purpose:

  • The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision and will be required to teach nursing and non-nursing staff including basic and post basic students.
  • The post holder will be expected to be involved in leadership of the clinical team and will carry out all appropriate care interventions and may be designated to take charge of the department/caseload or speciality in which she/he is placed in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility
  • The post holder will engage and work with young people and their families to provide specialist assessment, treatment and interventions relating to emerging or diagnosed early onset symptoms of psychosis.
  • The post holder will work predominantly with young people aged 14-65 years across transitional boundaries to maintain a seamless care and treatment pathway by:
  • Maintaining engagement and treatment up to the first 3 years during the critical period
  • Providing phase specific evidence based interventions
  • Promoting positive outcomes in clinical, social, educational and vocational functioning
  • Supporting families and carers to adjust and support recovery from psychosis
  • To assist in delivering an Early Detection Programme.

Requirements of the Community Psychiatric Nurse:

  • Valid NMC registration under Mental Health.
  • Experience working within a similar role would be highly desirable.
  • A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained).
