Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company to the private and public sector has a locum vacancy for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to work based in Balleymoney, within the Adult Community Care Division Team.

The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist job is £16.12 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an ongoing contract.

Duties:

  • To participate as a member of a team, to provide an Occupational Therapy service working under the supervision of Senior Occupational Therapy Staff.
  • Post will be part of Band 5 rotation where these exist or are developed.
  • To carry own caseload and be responsible for organising own workload in line with agreed Trust priorities, policies, and procedures.
  • Carry out assessments, initiate and follow through appropriate treatment programmes, on an individual/group basis, as appropriate.
  • Liaise and exchange information, both informally and formally at ward rounds/case conferences, case discussions, and with other disciplines and agencies.
  • Participate in evening, weekend & Bank Holiday rota.
  • To carry out home assessment visits as required.
  •  Provide equipment and make recommendations in respect of minor housing adaptations, within agreed framework and at the discretion of the Professional Lead/Clinical Lead.
  • Give support and advice to client/parents/carers/teachers where appropriate giving due regard to confidentiality.
  • To assist in the supervision of unqualified staff and students as appropriate.
  • To participate in in-service training programme, professional talks and lectures and staff meetings.
  • Maintain and develop professional competence and promote evidence-based practice. This will include keeping a CPD record.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate records and carry out administrative procedures in accordance with department procedures.
  • Be responsible for the use and care of all equipment and stock.
  • Safeguard the welfare of both patients and staff as outlined in the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978.
  • Meet the requirements of Clinical & Social Care Governance.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct for Occupational Therapists.
  • To carry out other designated duties which may be required from time to time relating to needs of the service.

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience either pre or post qualification
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of sound clinical knowledge.
  • Commitment to the delivery of a quality service.
  • Awareness of trends in Health and Social Care.
  • Good assessment skills.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours as the needs of the service demands including weekend and bank holidays on a rota basis
  • You will be required from time to time to work in other teams within and across localities to ensure timely provision of services as directed by management.
