Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Supervising Social Worker within the Fostering Team to work full time based in Durham.

The salary for this permanent Supervising Social Worker job is up to £45,000 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Visit assigned carers regularly while the child is placed with them and keep in regular contact when there is no child in placement
  • Ensure that foster carers are informed, and fully comply with all standards and policies and guidance, including safe caring guidelines
  • Assist foster carers in achieving these standards through regular supervision meetings, providing an opportunity for all parties to raise issues of concern
  • Take responsibility in assisting in the career development of carers, establishing training needs with them and making plans to meet these
  • Provide or arrange support for other members of the household, particularly children of the foster family
  • Assist carers in solving problems relating to the child and his/her family by liaising with the child’s social worker who has the prime responsibility for this
  • Respond to enquires about fostering and undertake home visits to provide information and initial assessment
  • Attend regular supervision and annual appraisal meetings with the line manager and participate in appropriate training and professional development
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with LAF’s philosophy, equal opportunities statement, quality assurance procedures, complaints procedures, child protection procedures, financial procedures, and employment policies

Requirements of this Supervising Social Worker job:

  • Significant frontline experience within Children’s Services
  • 2 years or more post-qualifying experience in Fostering with an IFA
  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent
  • Understanding of relevant legislation
  • Continual professional development
  • Social Work England registered
