The salary for this permanent Senior Specialist Physiotherapist job is £54,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Work autonomously in a specialised clinical setting, with support and supervision from a senior Physiotherapist, acknowledging professional accountability.
  • Conduct thorough neurological assessments, analyse findings, and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Implement treatment plans, adjusting based on client response, interdisciplinary team input, and relevant factors.
  • Ensure treatment plans are evidence-based and aligned with best practice guidelines.
  • Offer specialised professional advice and utilise advanced clinical problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute actively to the wider physiotherapy team, focusing on a specialist area of interest.
  • Collaborate within the multi/interdisciplinary team, providing physiotherapy within the BIRT neurobehavioral/neuropsychological model.
  • Provide specialised physiotherapeutic interventions across three pathways: Neurobehavioral, Neurorestorative, and Well-being.
  • Safely manage individuals with challenging behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression, mental health disorders, and sexual inhibition.
  • Participate in setting multi/interdisciplinary team goals in line with goal-setting guidelines.
  • Identify and utilise appropriate physiotherapeutic equipment, devices, and interventions, such as tilt tables, splints, and microstimulation, potentially involving referrals to other services.
  • Document treatment outcomes using standardised measures and ensure timely completion of outcome measure database, both individually and within the local team.

Requirements of the Senior Specialist Physiotherapist:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Completion of a Practice Placement qualification or a willingness to pursue this within the first year of employment.
  • Proficiency in conducting complex neurophysiotherapy assessments, developing ICF problem lists, and devising specialised treatment plans.
  • Familiarity with the principles of clinical governance.
  • Capacity for self-reflection and initial self-assessment of performance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Experience in rehabilitation, particularly with individuals with neurological deficits such as acquired brain injury, or in related fields such as learning disabilities, musculoskeletal conditions, or mental health.
