Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our client's dynamic Therapies team at a leading independent hospital. 

Situated in the leafy suburb of St John’s Wood, just minutes from Central London on the Jubilee line, their hospital has been rated number one in the country for care in a recent Bupa survey. Additionally, all profits fund their onsite Hospice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work autonomously within your scope of practice to deliver high-quality clinical services that meet both clinical and strategic needs.
  • Provide specialised assessments and interventions for a diverse caseload of inpatients and outpatients, including those with complex presentations.
  • Support the development of the occupational therapy service to ensure best practice, efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise, initiate, and participate in evidence-based projects and in-service training sessions.
  • Deliver specialist assessment and treatment to inpatients, ensuring evidence-based, high-quality care through a clear governance strategy, service planning, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your professional activities, adhering to hospital, departmental, and professional standards and codes of conduct.
  • Plan and manage your specialised caseload effectively, considering clinical priorities and time management.
  • Use specialist clinical knowledge to undertake therapy assessments and make informed clinical decisions for appropriate interventions.
  • Provide therapeutic advice to patients, carers, and clinicians based on evidence-based practice and advanced clinical judgment.
  • Utilise advanced communication and behaviour change skills in sensitive situations.
  • Continuously assess and review objectives and outcomes with patients, carers, and the MDT.
  • Actively participate in discharge planning and provide specialist advice during MDT meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient documentation and statistical information.
  • Ensure patients consent to assessments and interventions in line with hospital policy and professional codes of conduct.
  • Liaise effectively with referrers and communicate complex patient-related information to ensure collaborative MDT working.

Candidate Requirements:

  • BSc (Hons) degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Evidence of post-graduate professional development.
  • Desire or evidence of study at Masters level is advantageous.
  • Membership in a specialist interest group is desirable.
  • Additional specialist knowledge through relevant post-graduate training.
  • Experience with a varied inpatient and outpatient caseload.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of approaches for managing complex patients is desirable.
  • Experience in audit and research, multidisciplinary team working, and teaching within your professional group and the MDT is advantageous.
  • Experience working at Band 6 level is desirable.
