We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a client in Devon.

Hours: 40 per week

Summary of Role

Responsible to a Project Manager through the project commercial lead for the commercial aspects of a project / section of a larger project. Assist in protecting the VINCI commercial position by developing and implementing an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts. Responsible for planning and managing their own works and sometimes that of an Assistant or Trainee QS, including providing development and support.

Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
  • Perform cost analysis for building projects
  • Provide advice on contractual matters
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Monitor and manage project costs throughout all stages of construction
  • Prepare and submit valuations and variations to contracts
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage risks related to cost
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor::

  • Recognised Commercial Qualifications and / or relevant experience
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable
