Duties:

  • Assess, differentially diagnose, develop and provide appropriate specialist advice and intervention and evaluate outcomes for patients referred to the CAC service
  • Contribute to clinical teams both multi-disciplinary and uni-disciplinary by discussing own and others input around patients needs ensuring a well coordinated care plan
  • Provide advice, education, training and support to staff, carers and patients on how best to meet the communication identified
  • Take lead responsibility for certain aspects of the service and proactively facilitate the development of the SLT service to this client group in conjunction with the Lead Clinician
  • Be responsible for the development and maintenance of working relationships within the multidisciplinary team
  • Liaising with Statutory/Voluntary Agencies to ensure the delivery of an effective Speech & Language Therapy Service

Requirements of the Augmentative/Alternative Communication Speech and Language Therapist/SLT:

  • Degree or equivalent within Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration
  • Recent post qualifying experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist
