Job Purpose:

Contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients through skilled imaging techniques. Manage daily workload allocation and handle unscheduled referrals efficiently. Provide supervision and guidance to junior radiographers and assistants within the imaging modality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of imaging procedures, including specialist and complex examinations, to the highest standards. Mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prioritise tasks and adapt imaging practices to suit individual patient needs.
  • Administer oral, rectal, and intravenous drugs as authorised, ensuring patient safety.
  • Recognise and address the diverse needs of patients with complex conditions, making safeguarding referrals when necessary.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment, oversee quality assurance, and maintain infection control standards.
  • Work independently, coordinating team activities when required, and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments during examinations, ensuring radiation safety for all involved.
  • Conduct audits, stay updated on advancements in radiography, and contribute to service improvements.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, and maintain a personal portfolio of CPD activities.
  • Participate in an on-call service, taking ownership of imaging decisions as a lone worker.

Person Specification:

  • BSc (Hons) in diagnostic imaging or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Jersey Care Commission.
  • Practical knowledge of general and specialist imaging procedures.
  • Detailed understanding of pathology and medical conditions requiring imaging.
  • Excellent grasp of Radiation Safety, clinical governance, and health & safety requirements.
  • Proficient in operating technical imaging equipment and administering drugs.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and mentor colleagues.
  • Empathetic, professional, and committed to continuous improvement and development.
  • Minimum 2 years of postgraduate experience demonstrating imaging proficiency and teamwork.
