Pay Rate: £16 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum, initially 3-months

Shift Pattern: 7.25 hours per day with 45 min lunch = 8 hours. Centre times are 09:00 am – 19:00 pm however days usually around 09:30 am - 17:30 pm but flexibility needed.

Duties:

  • Facilitate after school contact sessions at a contact centre
  • Carry a caseload of vulnerable children and young people (0-16 aged) and their families that requires supervised contact, to ensure safeguarding of the children and young people is apriority at all times
  • Plan and hold contact sessions for cases children and young people who are looked after by the Local Authority in either the Contact Centre in Trafford, in the community, or outside of the borough as required
  • Organise and co-ordinate contacts activities e.g. cinema within the community ensuring that appropriate Risk Assessments are in place and adhered to
  • Supervise and record (video) final contact sessions with children and their families when adoption is part of the child’s plan
  • Attend Court to give evidence on the nature of contact sessions, the level of attachment and the relationship between the child and parent/significant other when required
  • Work in partnership with other agencies and professionals including social workers, providing reports that will form part of their parenting assessments
  • Work professionally and objectively with parents who could potentially have a range of issues that may have affected their parenting
  • Work with vulnerable children and young people that have either witnessed or been a victim of domestic violence, neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse who may have severe emotional and behavioural issues
  • Maintain up to date manual and electronic records in line with the case recording policy which includes uploading onto Liquid Logic and making case notes on a daily basis
  • Attend Multi Agency Meetings such as LAC Reviews, Strategy Meetings, Case conferences, core group meetings as necessary and to provide written and verbal information and advice
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade of the role

Requirements of the Family Contact Worker:

  • Must be a driver and have a driving licence – role involves transporting children
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • 1 years’ experience working in a relevant environment
  • Experience of communicating with a wide range of audiences using appropriate communication channels to provide information which is clear, concise and effective
  • Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and in partnership with external agencies
  • Understanding of children’s developmental needs and the parenting task
  • Understanding of attachment theories in relation to children in care
  • A knowledge and understanding of information sharing and the duty of confidentiality
  • Detailed understanding of electronic data systems
  • Ability to communicate with families, children and other agencies both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate a solution focused approach
  • Ability to apply different methods of interventions with children and families to educate, facilitate and promote changes within contact sessions
  • Ability to analyse complex material and produce reports
  • Effective organisational skills including the ability to plan & prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Work flexibly to the needs of the service as part of a multi-agency team and under professional supervision and guidance
  • Enhanced DBS check
