Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to work full-time based in Kingston.

The pay rate for this locum Clinical Psychologist job is £38 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.

Duties:

  • Join a multi-disciplinary team at Tier 3 Kingston CAMHS
  • Carry out high quality assessments
  • Provide evidence-based treatment
  • Provide supervision to Band 7s/Assistants
  • Have an agreed job plan with specified activity and throughput levels
  • Co-ordinate care for those children, young people and families on their caseload
  • Manage risk within team, Directorate and Trust structures
  • Work to relevant professional and ethical guidelines, and within the framework of Directorate and Trust policies and procedures
  • Use screening and outcome measures in clinically meaningful ways to demonstrate treatment effectiveness and seek feedback about user experience
  • Provide specialist assessments of young children and their parents/carers referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complexdata from a variety of sources including psychological and where appropriate, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews in line with CYP IAPT methodology
  • Formulate and implement plans for evidence-based interventions, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, to improve the parent/child relationship
  • Be responsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic interventions employed individually and in synthesis, maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses, adjusting and refining formulations or understandings, drawing upon different explanatory models and employing methods of intervention that are based upon evidence of efficacy
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual and the family
  • Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans
  • Provide specialist mental health advice guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the care of the young child and their parents/carers
  • Contribute to and/or use evidence-based, integrated working tools and processes, to ensure young children and their parents/carers receive holistic and co-ordinated services in response to their mental health needs
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management for young children and their parents/carers
  • Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of young children and their parents/carers who are under their care
  • monitor progress during the course of interventions, ensuring that all interventions are fully assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated in conjunction with CYP IAPT minimum dataset standards
  • Maintain accurate and accessible health care records according to Trust policy and Information Governance requirements
  • Receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior psychologist / psychotherapist and, where appropriate, other senior colleagues
  • Gain additional experience and skills relevant to the profession and/or the service (as agreed with the responsible professional and team manager) in accordance with the CAMHS Directorate’s common expectations for P&P staff

Requirements of the Clinical Psychologist:

  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC as an Applied Psychologist
  • Demonstrate high level communication skills, both written and verbal, within all agencies
  • Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people in a variety of community settings
  • Experience of leading case reviews
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of inter-agency working
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
  • Experience of safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Specialist knowledge of child and family development
  • Ability to work with children of all ages
  • Ability to deliver evidence based therapeutic interventions in a variety of community settings
  • In depth knowledge of safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Knowledge of the use of a variety of evidence-based therapeutic tools
  • Advanced observation skills
  • Understanding of non-verbal communication in young children
