Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for a Deputy Manager to work full-time based in a Children’s home located in Earley, Reading, RG6.

The salary for this permanent Deputy Manager job is up to £40,000, plus a bonus, depending on experience and successful Ofsted inspections.

Main Duties:

  • Effectively manage staff, including regular supervision meetings and annual appraisals
  • Monitor staff performance and follow due process if there are concerns regarding any staff members' performance
  • Facilitate regular team briefings, meetings, and training sessions, ensuring the regular cascading of information
  • Manage a budget for the provision, ensuring best value and appropriate records are kept and passed as required to the finance lead
  • Ensure appropriate and personalized target setting for all children, with the impact reflected in clear reports for the local authority, which are sent on a regular basis
  • Manage health & safety arrangements across the provision, including first aid arrangements, health and safety checks, risk management plans, risk assessments, and any other requirement falling within health and safety legislation
  • Lead on and model a range of behavioural intervention strategies based on the assessment of a child’s behaviour, including the development of Positive Behaviour Support plans
  • Comply with diversity & equality policy in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these policies amongst colleagues, service users, and other members of the community
  • Work flexibly as may be required by the needs of the service and perform any other reasonable duties as required

Requirements of this Job:

  • Level 5 Diploma – Leadership and management in Children and Young People’s residential services or equivalent, or willingness to undertake this
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working within Children’s residential care
  • Ability to show leadership skills
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Direct involvement in Ofsted inspections
